Focus on Lawn services
Firstly, happy new year. We hope you enjoyed the festive season. Although we are currently in the grip of a cold snap with most lawns covered in snow, here at LawnsOne we are still planning, to achieve the best results for the coming year.
Renewal of service
You will have received your renewal of service notice for 2010 with this newsletter. Services this year have been tailored and pre scheduled for your lawn. This should result in more and timelier visits to your lawn ensuring we pick up on any problems and deal with them quickly.

We would like to make communication easy and more convenient for you. So if you prefer texts, emails or phone calls let us know and we’ll contact you that way, wherever possible.
We will also be sending out a monthly newsletter by email and so will be updating our email records – expect a call. This is at no further cost on our Freephone number: 0800 848 8055. The office is open from 9-5pm Mon-Fri.
Focus on compaction
Compaction is arguably one of the biggest problems most domestic lawns suffer from. Foot traffic, repeated mowing and consolidation over time all contribute to poor soil structure and a hard layer in which grass roots struggle for water and air.
The best way to relieve compaction in your lawn is with a hollow tine aerator. At LawnsOne we have professional petrol powered aerators which perform this task with outstanding results removing small cigar shaped cores at regular intervals across the lawn.
NEW Organic soil conditioner
To further increase the benefits of aeration, this year we have sourced a new 100% organic soil conditioning treatment. This state of the art liquid contains a mix of enzymes, bacteria and growth promoting nutrients which bring life to compacted, poor soils and create vital nutrient chains which are essential for healthy grass growth.
Special introductory offer
To benefit from this exciting new product just book an aeration before 28th February 2010 and receive a FREE soil conditioner treatment (worth a standard treatment price) with every hollow tine aeration booked before February 28th 2010. If you pre-pay for an aeration as part of the renewals process your lawn will automatically have this treatment included free of charge.
Focus on moss
With the wet weather experienced last year and the snowy weather now, we expect to see a large number of lawns suffering from outbreaks of moss. Moss thrives in wet, damp and shaded areas of your lawn but also will colonise any bare areas such as those scalped by a mower or any other weakened areas of your lawn. Moss is a classic sign that your turf isn’t as healthy as it should be.
Our winter moss treatment will kill off present moss right to its roots within two to three weeks of being applied. Grass will then grow through the dead moss or for best results the moss can be raked out either by hand or mechanically.
As well as treating the moss it is also important to address what is causing the moss otherwise it will simply re-occur. This may involve pruning shrubs or trees shading your lawn, improving ground conditions or fertilising.
To get the best possible results from your moss treatment we recommended scarification and aeration of your lawn. We may also recommend removal of over-hanging shrubs etc.
Of course your LawnsOne regular feeding program will help too giving your lawn the essential nutrients it needs to be healthy and vigorous to out compete moss.
Winter lawn care tips
- Keep the lawn free of debris such as leaves, toys, gardening equipment and furniture. These items can smother the grass, damage your lawn and leave it vulnerable to disease.
- Keep off the lawn when wet or frosty as the plants are not actively growing and they can't repair themselves until the spring.
- Do not mow the lawn if it is wet or frosty. If it becomes shaggy then set the mower on a high setting and choose a dry day when the frost has lifted to nip the top off.
