annual treatments
Scarifying (Autumn or Spring)
Our professional scarifier uses vertically spinning blades to remove dead organic matter (thatch) and moss from the surface and subsurface of your lawn. It also trims grass shoots and roots encouraging tillering for a denser and healthier lawn. By removing thatch the infiltration of water and nutrients to grass roots is greatly improved. We can leave the thatch for you to compost or we can do it for you.
Hollow tine aeration (Autumn or Spring)
This treatment removes small plugs of soil and thatch from the surface of your lawn relieving compaction and aiding the flow of nutrients, air and water to the roots of your lawn. We clear and remove the plugs for you to compost or we can do that for you.
Solid tine spiking (year round)
126 Solid tines 45mm long on a roller are used to create small holes all over the surface of your lawn allowing the increased infiltration of water, air and nutrients into the soil profile. Many more holes are created using this treatment than aeration but compaction is not reduced as in Aeration.
Top-dressing (March to October)
A mix of 80:20 sand to soil is applied to the lawn surface and then levelled using a lawn care lute. This fills the hollows and helps smooth the lawn as well as diluting the thatch and aiding drainage. This creates a new ground level above the previous seasons.
Over-seeding (March to October)
A seed bed is created on your lawn. High quality dwarf rye-grass seed is then broadcast over the lawn and top-dressing applied as above. This is the ultimate renovation treatment and ideally completed in autumn or spring when optimum results can be obtained.
